Laura Barchetti is a versatile soprano who performs both as a soloist and ensemble singer and currently lives in Berlin.
Born in Modena, she studied opera singing in her hometown under Tiziana Tramonti, Cinzia Forte, and Marina Comparato, graduating with top marks. During her studies, she performed in numerous concerts and chamber ensembles, notably with the women’s ensemble Coranto and in a voice-guitar duo at the InCorde Festival.
She was also a member of the Costanzo Porta Choir in Cremona, performing at prestigious festivals such as the Ravenna Festival, Anima Mundi in Pisa, Pomeriggi Musicali in Milan, and the Muti Italian Opera Academy, under the direction of conductors including Antonio Greco, Donato Renzetti, and Riccardo Muti.
Laura continued her musical education at the Berlin University of the Arts with Prof. Ute Florey and specialized in early music with Dörthe Maria Sandmann. She made her operatic debut as Belinda in Henry Purcell’s Dido & Aeneas and has performed as a soloist at the Spandau macht Alte Musik Festival in Berlin. She has also participated in contemporary music projects with Ensemble Ilinx-Studio and the collective Unruhe.
As both a soloist and ensemble singer, she regularly collaborates with groups such as Noonsong under the direction of Stefan Schuck, the Jüdisches Choralbuch Quartet and the Rheinische Kantorei. Since 2024, she has been a member of Polylens Vokal, engaging in various intercultural projects, including collaborations with Ensemble Asambura.
In addition to her live performances, she has taken part in several album recordings. She has a particular passion for chamber music, early music, and contemporary repertoire.
Alongside her artistic career, Laura is pursuing a PhD in musicology and works as a research associate and lecturer at the Department of Musicology at Heidelberg University.
In her free time Laura is passionate about capturing the ever-changing skies and clouds through photography and finds deep inspiration in the Mediterranean. She loves swimming.
